The Langhorne Creek Winemakers Showcase sees the top wines from the region judged by an independent panel of judges. This year the judging panel included; Kym Milne who set up Global Wine Solutions and has worked in the industry for 35 years, Mike Familo managing partner and senior wine maker at Boar’s Rock Winery, Jane Faulkner wine writer and columnist for the Age, Phil Reedman a regular judge at capital city, regional and international wines shows and Richard Matter who was this year’s associate judge and Winemaker at Wolf Blass.

Step Road has been a consistent performer at the Langhorne Creek Winemakers Showcase, but this is the first time the winery has won the ‘best wine’ award. Step Road Winery Manager Vicki Greaves said she was delighted with the results.

This wine reinforces Step Road’s commitment to producing contemporary varietal wines with a regional edge.”

The 2007 Step Road Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is deep plum in colour with notes of cassis, blackberry and hints of mocha. The palate is velvety, supported with firm yet slightly grainy tannins. An elegant wine with good palate weight and length.

The new distribution agreement will also see Vok enter the beer category for the first time. Vok Marketing Manager Chris Illman said he was pleased with the new addition to the company portfolio.

“Vok has wanted to enter the beer category for some time now, but has been waiting for the right time to do so. When the opportunity presented itself to distribute this premium beer we grabbed it with both hands. Cobra is a premium beer offering and has had great success globally, which we hope to match in Australia,” Chris said.

This was echoed by Cobra Beer Global Manager, Enrique Gil who said he was elated to be working with Vok.
